Recognizing Today's Leaders and Innovators in Pharmacy Practice

The Connecticut Pharmacists Association seeks to recognize pharmacy professionals who go above and beyond the call of duty.  You can help us reward these pharmacy leaders by nominating a pharmacist or technician for one of the prestigious awards listed below.

Please provide a letter of support for each award nominee describing the reasons for the CPA Awards Committee to consider your nominee.  Include specific examples and/or details in your nomination material.  CPA staff will notify nominators when the nomintaion is received.  Nominations may be mailed, faxed or emailed to the CPA office.

Please note that not all of the CPA award recipients need to be members of the CPA.  Nomination Forms are due each June 1st for the current year, with award descriptions and former recipients below:

Bowl of Hygeia Award

Sponsored by the American Pharmacists Association Foundation and the national Alliance of State of Pharmacy Associations with support from Boehringer Ingelheim.  This award is presented annually to a pharmacist with an outstanding record of community service, which, apart from his/her specific identification as a pharmacist, reflects well on the profession of pharmacy.  The recipient must be a pharmacist licensed in Connecticut, a member of the Connecticut Pharmacists Association, must be living (the award is not presented posthumously), must not have been a previous recipient and is currently not serving, nor has served within the immediate past two years as an officer of the CPA in other than an ex-officio capacity.

Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award

Sponsored by the Pharmacists Mutual Insurance companies, the award is presented annually to recognize one such person for involvement and dedication to the practice of pharmacy.  The goal of the award is to encourage the newer pharmacists to participate in association and community activities.  The recipient must be a pharmacist licensed in CT who has practiced 9 years or less, is a member of the CPA, practicing in community, institutional, managed care or consulting pharmacy and who has participated in national or state pharmacy associations, professional programs, and/or community service.

Daniel C. Leone Pharmacist of the Year

Cardinal Health Generation Rx Champions

This award, initiated in 2012, honors a pharmacist who demonstrates outstanding commitment to raising awareness of the dangers of prescription drug abuse in the general public and in the pharmacy community.  The award is also aimed at improving education efforts aimed at patients, youth and members of the community.  In recognition, Cardinal Foundation will make a $500 donation to a charity of the recipient’s choice.
