Committees

Most of the work of the Association is done by the CPA Committees.  It is through these committees that the Association is able to advance the Strategic Plan and the goals of the organization.  Each Committee has a mission statement that provides the guidance for the committee.  Please see the current Standing Committees of the CPA.  

Awards, Scholarships and Nominations Committee
The mission of the Awards, Scholarships and Nominations Committee is to select candidates for the future leaders of the association, pharmacists for the association’s prestigious professional awards, and deserving students for the CPA scholarships.

Responsibilities:
-Reviews scholarship applications and award nominations
-Selects recipients.
-Maintains a list of past recipients
-Judges APhA-ASP patient counseling competition
-Meets at least twice per year
-Chairperson is responsible for writing an annual report to be available at the annual business meeting held in conjunction with the New England Pharmacists Convention

Budget Committee
Co-Chairs: Peter Tyczkowski, Jacqui Murphy
The mission of the Budget Committee is to oversee the association’s budgetary process by preparing an annual budget for consideration by the Board of Directors and monitoring income and expenses throughout the year. The Treasurer is the Chairperson of the Committee.  The President-Elect is the Co-Chair.

Responsibilities:
-Prepares/Reviews CPA budget  
-Meets at least twice per year
-Treasurer is responsible for writing an annual report to be available at the annual meeting held in conjunction with the New England Pharmacists Convention

Bylaws and Resolutions Committee
Co-Chairs: Pete Sposato, Lucrezia Finegan
The mission of the Bylaws and Resolutions Committee is to be responsible for reviewing and maintaining the governing documents of the organization, and for recommending proposed changes when necessary.

Responsibilities:
-Meets before the Mid-Winter and Annual Conferences to review and organize any By-laws changes and/or resolutions to be put before the general membership meeting.
-Meets at least twice per year.
-Chairperson is responsible for writing an annual report to be available at the annual meeting held in conjunction with the New England Pharmacists Convention.

Education Committee
Co-Chairs: Bahar Matusik
The mission of the Education Committee shall be to fulfill the needs of the members by making quality and diverse educational opportunities available at an affordable price to as many members of the association as possible.

Responsibilities:
-The committee takes responsibility for meetings sponsored by the organization.
-With the assistance of staff, the committee should plan cost effective, profitable events that further the professional goals of the organization’s membership.
-Develops and reviews CE program topics that further the professional goals of members and recruits funding.
-Reviews, evaluates and determines format and schedule of Mid-Winter and New England Pharmacists Conventions.
-Updates and promotes CPA technician training program and online pharmacist refresher program.  (Special sub-committee)
-Meets at least three times per year.
-Chairperson is responsible for writing an annual report to be available at the annual meeting held in conjunction with the New England Pharmacists Convention.

Legislative Committee
Co-Chairs: Philip Hritcko and Jean Keating;  Emeritus Co-Chairs Angelo DeFazio, Rick Carbray
The mission of the Legislative Committee is to ensure that there is adequate and appropriate monitoring, lobbying and oversight on federal and state legislation and issues that could affect the association and members.  Separately, to make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding any government activities that could affect the industry.

Responsibilities:
-Sets the legislative agenda for the association
-Reviews and updates Grassroots Lobbying Kit
-Develops annual written Law CE to fulfill member’s Law CE obligation on-line   
-Meets at least twice per year.
-Particularly active prior to and during the Connecticut Legislative Session.
-Chairperson is responsible for writing an annual report to be available at the annual business meeting in conjunction with the New England Pharmacists Convention which summarizes new legislation passed.

Membership Committee
Chair: Marissa Salvo
The mission of the Membership Committee is to actively recruit new members, to encourage member participation in association committees and activities and to determine if membership needs are being met and to recommend measures or services that will better meet the changing needs of members.

Responsibilities:
-Develops methods to recruit and retain members.
-Evaluates member services and programs.
-Enhances student participation in CPA.
-Develop survey for member satisfaction and non-renewal
-Meets at least quarterly.
-Chairperson is responsible for writing an annual report to be available at the annual business meeting held in conjunction with the New England Pharmacists Convention


External Relations Committee
Chair: Jacqui Murphy
The mission of the External Relations Committee shall be to promote better understanding of the profession and the association through a variety of public outreach efforts, marketing and public relations.

Responsibilities:
-Develops public awareness of profession of pharmacy and assists members with public presentations
-Meets at least two times per year
-Chairperson is responsible for writing an annual report to be available at the annual meeting held in conjunctions with the New England Pharmacists Convention
